about

...on the music:

We made this as a full length album, as opposed to a collection of singles. The full length album format gave us liberty to tell the story and create a continuous musical experience for you; one that flows like a movie.

In the process of recording this album, we rarely spoke in musical terms, we spoke of visual/emotional scenes. This made for much more interesting and self-expressive challenges for us as musicians. For example, the bridge in Song for Sweet Thing is a scene that opens up into a idyllic prairie field, the trumpet plays like a warm breeze, the cymbals like the whispering tallgrass, the piccolo flute like a songbird, the guitars twirling around each other hand in hand...its the feeling of falling in love. If I tried to direct that song in literal, musical terms it would be stale, instead, it feels vibrant, visual, and alive.

Without taking away from your interpretation of the music with any more specifics, I'll say, generally, that there are three main locations in this album: mother nature, father city, and the child's surreal imagination, sometimes dark, sometimes light, and always playful.

We hope you enjoy our debut album, and look forward to creating many more you.

Musically,
Antony & the Tramps
